Israeli minister says Gazans can ‘go to Ireland or the desert’ as he says nuclear bomb also ‘a possibility’
An Israeli minister who was suspended for saying a nuclear bomb was “a possibility” for Israel to use in Gaza, also said Palestinians in the territory “can go to Ireland or deserts”.
Far-right heritage minister Amichai Eliyahu supports his country retaking the Gaza Strip and restoring settlements there. Asked on local radio about the fate of the Palestinian population there, he was reported by the Times of Israel as saying: “They can go to Ireland or deserts, the monsters in Gaza should find a solution by themselves.”

‘Reason’ senior editor Robby Soave and FOX Business anchor Liz Claman discuss what the media have done right and wrong during this war period on ‘MediaBuzz.’
There was one member of the Beatles who never shied away from political protest: John Lennon.
He was passionately against the Vietnam War, but also wary of protestors using violence, as he declared in the song "Revolution":
"You say you want a revolution, well you know, we all want to change the world… But when you talk about destruction, don’t you know that you can count me out, in?"
He held weeklong bed-ins for peace with Yoko, in Amsterdam and Montreal. In his signature song "Imagine," he challenged the world to move past war:
"Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too. Imagine all the people, livin’ life in peace." And of course, he wrote "Give Peace a Chance."
THE SCOURGE OF ANTISEMITISM IS NOW GLOBAL AND INESCAPABLE
Paul McCartney had political views, but he rarely interjected them into songs, and very subtle – "Blackbird," for instance, was an allegory about America’s civil rights struggles.
I bring this up, as you probably know, because the last Beatles song is being released today, based on Lennon’s lyrics and piano.
And with a boost from artificial intelligence.
"Now and Then" was recorded by Lennon on a cassette a few years before his life was tragically cut short in 1980. The tape was labeled "For Paul." Yoko Ono sent it to McCartney in 1994. The three surviving Beatles were able to record and release two songs based on the cassette, "Real Love" (which I thought was terrific) and "Free As a Bird."
John Lennon (1940-1980) formed the Beatles in 1960 with Paul McCartney (1942-), George Harrison (1943-2001) and Ringo Starr (1940-). Before being signed to Parlophone in 1962 The Beatles were found playing in the Cavern Club in Liverpool and venues in Hamburg, Germany. They went on to become the most successful pop group of all time and finally split in 1970. In 1965 Lennon, along with the other Beatles, was awarded the MBE, although he later returned his as a protest about British involvement in the Vietnam War. Lennon married the Japanese avant-garde artist Yoko Ono in March 1969. The Beatles finally split in 1970. Lennon was murdered in New York on 8 December 1980 by Mark Chapman. (SSPL/Getty Images)
They tried on the third song, but the quality was just too low. George Harrison called it "f*** rubbish." And it was scrapped until recently, when technology used by producer Peter Jackson made it possible to isolate the vocals.
"There it was, John’s voice, crystal clear," McCartney said. "It’s quite emotional. And we all play on it, it’s a genuine Beatles recording. In 2023, to still be working on Beatles music, and about to release a new song the public haven’t heard, I think it’s an exciting thing." That’s an understatement.
Ringo Starr said: "It was the closest we’ll ever come to having him back in the room so it was very emotional for all of us. It was like John was there, you know. It’s far out." And groovy.
NIKKI HALEY HAILED FOR IOWA SURGE, BUT TRUMP STILL DOMINANT
I heard a bit of it yesterday in a short documentary on YouTube, and liked what I heard. First there was John’s vocal, which was strong, resonant and so achingly familiar. Then Paul and Ringo added bass and drums, and a souped-up version of George’s guitar solo.
The opening lyrics:
"I know it’s true
"It’s all because of you
"And if I make it through
"It’s all because of you."

"Now and Then" is a ballad, not one of John’s all-out rockers, and it does sound like the Beatles. It won’t rank up there with the group’s greatest hits, but it’s a gift. With McCartney at 81, and Starr at 83, touring right now, we should be grateful. (So much for "when I’m 64.")
Consider the backdrop: John, Paul, George and Ringo were working-class Liverpool kids who played in sometimes sleazy clubs, and were turned down by every major record label, until Parlophone’s George Martin decided to take a chance on them.
Then they became the greatest band in rock history, and Lennon-McCartney became one of the greatest songwriting teams in history, their work covered by hundreds of top musicians. They were a cultural phenomenon, surrounded by what was dubbed Beatlemania. And as they experimented and matured with such albums as Sgt. Pepper’s and Abbey Road, they changed the face of music forever.

More than 60 years later, they still have an enthusiastic following, including some grandchildren of the original fans, and have their own channel on Sirius XM.
Lennon was the early leader (Paul and George joined his band, the Quarrymen) and sang lead on most of the early Beatles songs.
But he also had long fallow periods, especially in the late sixties when he developed a serious addiction to heroin and other drugs.
Lennon’s anti-war crusading had consequences as the Nixon administration went after him. After he met with radical activists in New York, friends such as Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, in 1971, the FBI put the ex-Beatle under surveillance. A year later, immigration authorities tried to deport him, using an old marijuana conviction as the pretext.
The bureau’s files, obtained by NPR, said "Lennon should be arrested, if at all possible, on possession of narcotics charges, which would make him more immediately deportable."

In a letter from J. Edgar Hoover to Richard Nixon’s chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman, the FBI chief began: "John Winston Lennon is a member of The Beatles singing group." As if, what, nobody knew that? And there was a Keystone Kops aspect at times: the bureau sent out a purported photo of Lennon, one of the world’s most recognizable figures, that was actually an East Village folksinger.
After a four-year legal battle, Lennon won a green card once Jerry Ford was president.

Defenseless: countries that do not have armed forces
Defenseless: countries that do not have armed forces Story by Zeleb.es •
Throughout the planet there are a good number of countries and territories that do not have an army. In their case, for their defense, they require the support of other nations.
In total there are 30 countries or territories that are in this situation. These should be divided, in turn, into three groups: those who do not have an army or armed forces of any kind (15 in total), those who do not have a permanent army but do have a limited military force (6 in total) and the overseas territories that depend on their countries (a total of 9).
The Republic of the Marshall Islands, located in the Pacific, in the region of Micronesia, has about 50,000 inhabitants and a Pact of Free Association with the United States, so the American country is in charge of its defense in the event of conflict.
Also located in the same region as the Marshall Islands and with a similar agreement as that of its neighbors, it depends on the United States for its defense and also has the Police as its only security body.
And very close to the previous ones, also in the Pacific and just above the Equator is Nauru, a republic that includes a single island of just 21.3 square kilometers and 11,500 inhabitants, but which, in its case, has an agreement for its defense with Australia, which would be supported by a small police force under civilian control that they have.
Another country - also an island - in the Micronesia area that does not have an Army is Palau, belonging to Oceania and with about 18,000 inhabitants. Like the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia, they have their Compact of Free Association with the United States, which is responsible for their defense.
More islands in Oceania without an army. In this case, the Solomons, with more than 500,000 inhabitants, have had an agreement for their defense with China since 2022, which has increased tension in the area with countries such as the United States, New Zealand and Australia.
Samoa, located in Polynesia, in Oceania, has been an independent state since it separated from New Zealand in 1962. It has about 187,000 inhabitants and is another of the countries in the area that has the United States in charge of its territorial defense.
Located in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia is one of the Windward Islands, with an area of 616 square kilometers of territory and just over 180,000 inhabitants. The country has a special service unit, but no army. Its defense is the responsibility of the Regional Security System, an international agreement that includes six other countries for the defense of the Eastern Caribbean.
Another of those countries in the Caribbean area that depends on the Regional Security System is Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With almost 100,000 inhabitants, it does have the Royal Police Force of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, on which the paramilitary Special Services Unit and the Coast Guard depend.
And back in Oceania, in Polynesia, is Tuvalu, another island country without an army. It has about 12,000 inhabitants and has never had any military force since its creation. It is the Tuvalu Police Force, in charge of security, with maritime surveillance, customs, prisons and immigration units.
With just 0.49 square kilometers, in the middle of the city of Rome, and with just over 600 inhabitants, it is the smallest country in the world and its defense depends on the well-known Swiss Guard, those in charge of the defense of the Pope and the rest of the inhabitants of the state. At a general level its defense depends on Italy.
With Costa Rica we enter the second group to which we referred. It does not have a standing army, but it does have a limited military force. It abolished its army in December 1948, although its Constitution provides for its formation in case of need subordinated to civil power, something it has done twice.
Iceland also has not had a standing army since 1869, but it has other defense forces that have participated in international conflicts, in addition to being part of NATO. Members of its Coast Guard, for example, deployed to Iraq in 2003 and were later replaced by the Defense Forces.
The Republic of Mauritius, an island country in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar, with 1.2 million inhabitants, also does not have a standing army, but all military, police and security functions are carried out by 10,000 people in active service under the direction of the Commissioner of Police.
The Principality of Monaco, for its part, with some 38,000 inhabitants living in its barely two square kilometers of territory, does not have its own army, but it does have a small group of coast guards, approximately 500 police officers and a royal guard, called the Company of Prince's Carabiniers (Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince), with about 80 members.
Panama, located in Central America, between Colombia and Costa Rica, with an area of 75,517 square kilometers and just over four million inhabitants, abolished its army after the US invasion of 1989, at which time it launched the Public Forces, whose The objective is to maintain security, public order and the protection of Panama's borders.
In the south of the Pacific is the Republic of Vanuatu, an archipelago made up of 83 islands that has about 266,000 inhabitants. It also does not have any standing army and its defense depends on its Mobile Force.

Finally, within these territories without an Army, we cannot forget the overseas territories, such as the Cayman Islands, located in the Antilles, in the Caribbean Sea and dependent on the United Kingdom, which is the country in charge of defense. of its territory and its 69,000 inhabitants together with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Force.
Free state associated with New Zealand located in the South Pacific that has 15 small islands and around 10,000 inhabitants. Its defense, of course, depends on the New Zealanders, although only in case the island authorities require it.
Officially known as the Country of Curaçao, it is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, located in the Caribbean and with a population of about 162,000 inhabitants. The European country is in charge of its defense and foreign policy, while the maritime security of its borders depends on the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard.
Located north of the European continent, they are a constituent nation of the Kingdom of Denmark that consists of 18 islands and almost 50,000 inhabitants. The Arctic Command, a division of the Danish army, is responsible for its defense.
Located in Oceania, in the middle of the South Pacific, it is an overseas community dependent on France with some 274,000 inhabitants and whose defense, logically, is the responsibility of the French army.
The gigantic and strategic island of more than 2 million square kilometers in area and nearly 60,000 inhabitants, is, like the Faroe Islands, another constituent nation of the Kingdom of Denmark. Its defense, as well as foreign policy, is the responsibility of the Danes, but, since June 2009, the Coast Guard has been in the hands of the Greenlandic government.
The Caribbean island is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom, with a territory of about 102 square kilometers and nearly 6,000 inhabitants. It does not have an army and the country's security depends on the British, along with their own police force.
Free state associated with New Zealand, which is the country on which its defense depends on the hand of its army, although it does have a police force. Known as the 'Rock of Polynesia', it is located in the South Pacific and has only about 1,700 inhabitants.
The island of Saint Martin, located in the Caribbean and with just over 72,000 inhabitants, is politically divided between France and the Netherlands. It is part of the Dutch kingdom, but its northern part is a French overseas enclave. The defense falls to the army of the Netherlands.

Israeli minister says Gazans can ‘go to Ireland or the desert’ as he says nuclear
Two years ago, Texas Rangers fans were wondering when they would become even a postseason team after losing 102 games. Even last year, they went 68-94, extending their postseason drought to six straight seasons - now, they are World Series champions.
The Rangers took Game 5 of the Fall Classic over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night, 5-0 to win their first title in franchise history.
The Rangers slugged their way to victories all season long, but on Wednesday, it was anything but their typical slugfest for most of the night. Zac Gallen did not allow a hit through six innings, but Nathan Eovaldi kept the Diamondbacks scoreless the entire time while getting out of a couple huge jams.
The Rangers put two people in scoring position to lead off the seventh, and Mitch Garver finally opened the scoring with a single. Gallen left the game to a standing ovation, but in line for the tough luck loss (which he would eventually take).

With their season now on the brink, the Diamondbacks brought in their best options from the bullpen, calling on setup man Kevin Ginkel to stop the bleeding in the seventh. Texas loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, but Ginkel got out of that jam, as well.
Eovaldi’s night was complete after six grueling, scoreless innings, and Bruce Bochy brought in Aroldis Chapman. Seemingly always shaky in a big spot, he put the tying run on first. But after getting Gabriel Moreno to strike out, Bochy summoned Josh Sborz from the 'pen to get Christian Walker to fly out. Sborz also faced the lead run in the eighth, but avoided damage.
Closer Paul Sewald came in the game in the ninth, but allowed three-straight hits. The third was a single up the middle that went underneath center fielder Alek Thomas' glove and rolled all the way to the wall, scoring two. Marcus Semien added a two-run homer, all but icing the World Series, and his reaction was that as such. Sborz then retired the side in order in the ninth.
Texas went all-in over the last couple of offseasons. It all started when they solidified their middle infield before the 2022 offseason, giving Corey Seager a 10-year, $325 million deal and Marcus Semien a seven-year, $175 million pact. Seager had a down year last season, slashing just .245/.317/.455, but if it weren’t for Shohei Ohtani, he’d probably win the MVP this season.
One issue for Texas had been their rotation – they signed Jacob deGrom, but he underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this year. They even got Max Scherzer at the trade deadline, but he was mired with injuries throughout September and October. However, Nathan Eovaldi stepped up to the task, and the acquisition of Jordan Montgomery at the trade deadline proved to be one of the best moves throughout baseball.
It was an up-and-down season for Texas. On Aug. 15, the Rangers were a season-high 24 games over .500 and up 3.5 games in the AL West. Then, they lost eight straight. Again, they got hot, leading the division by 2.5 with four games remaining. But they lost three of four, the Houston Astros won four straight — against Arizona — and the Astros won the division again. So, they settled for the fifth seed at 90-72.
MOOKIE BETTS SAYS TEAMS SHOULD SIGN FORMER TEAMMATE TREVOR BAUER: 'HE'S AN AWESOME GUY'
However, the money spent, combined with the homegrown talent of Evan Carter and Josh Jung, and acquiring pieces that seemed like nothing at the time in Adolis Garcia, Nathaniel Lowe, and Jonah Heim, it’s simply a masterpiece from general manager Chris Young.
Texas made back-to-back Fall Classics in 2010 and 2011, even coming down to one strike in the latter year before the memorable St. Louis Cardinals’ comeback.
The Rangers went 11-0 on the road this postseason against the D-Backs, Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles, and Tampa Bay Rays. It's also manager Bruce Bochy's fourth World Series.
As for Arizona, they are certainly on the come-up. They have young talent, especially in likely NL Rookie of the Year Corbin Carroll, and won the pennant just two years after losing 110 games. Their win total has increased in each of the last two seasons as they went 84-78 this season, and with their scrappiness, it should surprise no one if it goes up again next year.
